Our Story

El Reaper Chicken was born in 2022 with a simple goal: to build a full time food business doing something we genuinely loved.

As brothers, we grew up around good food and shared a love for chicken sandwiches. After falling in love with Nashville hot chicken and the heat of the Carolina Reaper pepper, we knew we wanted to create something of our own. Being Latino, the name came naturally. El Reaper Chicken.

But building the business meant starting from the ground up.

While working during the day, we would pick up our kids, take care of things at home, and then spent our nights selling chicken sandwiches at JD’s Bar in Indio. Sometimes working until 2:00 in the morning. It was exhausting, but we believed those long nights were building toward something bigger.

One night, my son begged me, “Daddy, not today. Don’t go.”

He didn’t want toys or money. He just wanted his dad.

That moment stayed with me.

There were nights when we worked for hours and came home with barely enough to show for it. There were plenty of times we questioned whether the sacrifices were worth it. But we kept going.

After a year of long days, late nights, and putting every dollar we could back into the dream, we finally saved enough for the down payment on our first food trailer. In 2023, El Reaper Chicken officially hit the road.

Today, El Reaper is more than chicken sandwiches. It represents family, perseverance, and a second opportunity to build something of our own.

Every sandwich we serve carries a little piece of the journey that got us here.

We’re proud to be a family owned business serving the Coachella Valley, and we’re just getting started.
